During a door to door campaign in a small Romanian village, our partners at Sava’s Safe Haven came across a dog in urgent need. Finja had been abandoned on the streets, emaciated, sick, and too frightened to let anyone near her. She was a heartbreaking example of the cruelty faced by strays every day.

Despite her fear, the team at Sava’s knew that Finja deserved a chance. With expert care, gentle persistence, and patience, they began the long process of rehabilitation. At first Finja shrank away from human contact, but slowly she started to respond. A regular routine of food, medical treatment, and kindness gave her back her strength.

Over time, Finja learned to trust again. Today, she greets her carers every morning with an enthusiastic dance and follows them everywhere, bursting with energy and joy. She has transformed from a timid and broken dog into one who is full of life and love.

Her journey is a powerful reminder of why our work matters. Without intervention, Finja would not have survived. Thanks to our dedicated partners and the generosity of our supporters, she is now thriving and safe.
