In Ukraine, the challenges facing stray animals are immense. Amidst conflict and hardship, countless pets are abandoned and left to fend for themselves, suffering injury, illness, and neglect, with their owners unable to bring their pets when fleeing from a war zone. Thanks to our Project Partners on the ground, Wildlife & Welfare, many of these animals are given the vital lifeline they so desperately need.
Sarah was discovered in the village of Sarata by a volunteer, with multiple fractures and severe injuries, most likely caused by a car accident. She was in unbearable pain, unable to walk, and had clearly been left without help for weeks.
Six veterinary clinics turned Sarah away, unwilling to help because Sarah was a stray. Finally, at the seventh clinic, a compassionate team agreed to take her in, with X-rays revealing fractures across her fragile body, to her paw and hip, which were operated on by surgeons.
Sarah learned to find her feet again and was rehabilitated in the clinic, she now has a loving home in the Czech Republic, far away from war and the streets on which she struggled to survive.
Stories like Sarah’s are a stark reminder of the vulnerability of stray animals, and the importance of the work carried out by our dedicated partners on the ground. Without them, dogs like Sarah would have no chance of survival.
With your support, we can continue funding vital care for dogs like Sarah, giving them the second chance they deserve. Please consider making a donation today to help more strays find safety, treatment, and hope.
