Our adoption team works extremely hard to match each and every dog with the homes that they are best suited to. We look at every factor when considering potential homes, including location, lifestyle, experience, and family dynamic. Having successfully united over 1,950 dogs with their forever homes since our beginning, our adoption team has incredible experience in finding the perfect families for the dogs in our care.
We provide an in-depth adoption guide, reading list, pre and post arrival webinars, and the all too important shopping guide! However, we will also ensure that we always put our dogs’ needs first, and this means that sometimes we have dogs in the UK that don’t yet have their forever home. Our dogs up for adoption in the UK have come from all different countries, and are looking for a home either due to a change in their initial adopter’s circumstances, or as they have come straight to the UK into foster homes. Adopting a dog who has not thrived in a previous owner’s home does not necessarily mean that they are too difficult for a new home. These dogs may need to be rehomed due to several reasons, including a change in family arrangement, behavioural stressors or just that they haven’t bonded with the existing pets! Most of the dogs in our care have started life in dangerous and scary situations, meaning they have to grow up fast. Whilst they are still capable of incredible love and life, they already have developed much of their personality – they just need that special bond to bring out the rest!
Coming from a life on the streets where they may have had little or no positive experiences (especially with humans), to a household full of love and affection can be an incredibly overwhelming experience. We work with our adopters to explore every avenue to benefit their dog, and this occasionally includes finding them a new home environment in which they can thrive.
