The conflict in Ukraine has escalated drastically in recent weeks, with over a million people currently seeking refuge in neighbouring countries, and tens of thousands more forced to take shelter in tube stations and bunkers. During this time, we have seen the kindness and compassion that the citizens of Ukraine have for their companions. Animals are not immune from war. Each animal that you see being carried from conflict, represents a family who have loved and cherished them, and no one is to be left behind.
We have historically been at the forefront of meeting the needs of stray dogs around the world. However, as we see the heart-breaking scenes emerge from Ukraine, we know that we must do everything we can to support all animals, and the people who love them so deeply.
Bordering countries such as Poland and Romania are praised for their acceptance of pets, even those without proper documentation or medical records. Tests are being carried out at border crossings to allow each animal to be safely permitted in a process designed to reduce and eradicate risks such as disease and sickness.
Wild at Heart Foundation will be continuously supporting several projects bordering Ukraine, to assist in the urgent need for resources. We keep an open line of communication to establish the needs of the organisation, be it food, medical, anything else that will benefit the individuals seeking refuge.
By doing this, we wish to establish a system of ongoing support, whereby we can provide a consistent level of relief in the coming weeks, and months.
We are only able to do this with the kind and generous donations from our community. If you are able to donate to support our ongoing work, please do so on this page, or by texting AID, followed by the amount you wish to donate to 70490.
As we continue to support these projects, please consider setting up a regular donation. These animals and their families will depend on the aid we can provide for the foreseeable future. Thank you.
