Meet beautiful Olive, who arrived in the UK from Bahrain last month. She was originally found wandering the streets of Bahrain & was picked up by our partner shelter who cared for her until she came to the UK. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances, her adopter has come to the difficult decision that Olive needs a different home in order to thrive, & as such we are now hoping to find Olive the perfect forever home.

Olive is a sweet, affectionate dog, who bonded with her owner instantly. She loves cuddles and scratches & being close to her owner, but is also happy to spend time in her crate, & sleeps the whole night through. She’s really taken to stuffed toys and tug ropes & loves to play with these with her human.

Olive has already learnt to recall to her name and loves to spend time off lead in a safe enclosed space doing zoomies! She knows basic commands as well as being housetrained. This has all be relatively easy to teach due to her love of food; she’ll pretty much do anything for a chicken snack or some peanut butter. It is important to note that a change in environment can cause a dog to regress so adopters should expect to start from scratch with any training.

Since being in a home Olive has met a few dogs but she is generally quite nervous & uninterested in them & does not wish to play. When meeting dogs out on walks she will shy away & chooses not to interact. She has been reactive to a neighbours dog when she feels her space has been invaded, & for this reason we are looking for a home without another dog.

Olive is very nervous of new people, especially men & does not wished to be touched by them. However, if they have some tasty treats to hand she will take this, but remains cautious.  She is going to need lots of positive reinforcement training around people, with owners who won’t force her into situations. If she is given time & space we believe she will come around and allow attention from other people as long as it’s on her terms.

Olive also struggles with loud noises or unknown environments. She will bark at unknown sounds & become nervous when out walking if she is unsure of the situation. With lots of positive encouragement she will come around but this does take time. As such Olive needs an adult only, rural home with a nice garden in which she feels secure. She does tend to bark at cows and horses so adopters will need to manage this behaviour & be wary when walking in countryside near livestock.

Olive is looking for someone who can understand her needs & give her time to build up her confidence. We are considering foster homes as well as adoption for Olive so do get in touch either way!

Olive originally came from Bahrain but is now living in South West England– visits can be arranged for serious adopters. Please note, the UK adoption fee will apply.
