Libby, originally known as Liberty, is from Romania and came to the UK earlier this year and is now living in a foster home. Her original owners made the difficult decision that Libby would be best suited to a new home, where she can continue to grow in a new environment.

Over the past two months in her foster home, Libby has continuously impressed her foster carer with her intelligence and curiosity! She is an explorer at heart and likes to keep her clever brain busy! Once Libby gets to know you, she has a lot of life and loyalty to give to people that she feels comfortable with. We are looking for experienced adopters who can offer her routine and patient encouragement to continue her learning.

Libby is very much still a big puppy, with lots of the energy to match! This combined with her natural independence means she will thrive when given structure. She often likes to be close and “help” with whatever you are doing, so adopters who can keep Libby busy with her own set of jobs and regular training sessions will be important for keeping her brain stimulated. Libby loves playing with puzzle toys and figuring out how she can gain a big tasty reward! As she is still a youngster, Libby is also still chewing and sometimes mouths during playing. This is something that is decreasing with her training and will need to be continued with new adopters; with lots of treats on hand and positive reminders that she is doing well, Libby is a very motivated girl.

When Libby meets new people, she can be unsure and nervous, particularly around men. When someone is approaching unexpectedly, she can also be vocal and back away. In these circumstances, Libby will need very slow introductions and space to approach in her own time. Once she has got to know you and time is spent building up her trust, Libby’s soft side is released and she proudly presents her belly for all of the tummy rubs she can get! We will be looking to place Libby in at least a semi-rural adult home, somewhere that is quieter and able to let Libby relax in her new surroundings.

Libby would thrive in a home with a resident dog. She adores meeting other dogs out on her walks and comes in to her own when she is playing, wrestling and chasing lots of new friends. It would be ideal for Libby to build up a bond with a confident, older dog who can teach her that strangers are not so scary after all.

When Libby is out on her walks she is brilliant on lead and walks calmly next to busy roads. Libby will thrive with walks in engaging areas and hopefully, as she is a very keen swimmer – somewhere with rivers! Libby loves to splash about in water whenever she can find it and isn’t afraid of getting her fur wet! She is often allowed off lead when playing with other dogs and in enclosed spaces but her re-call will still need to be included in her training sessions. Extra work on keeping Libby’s attention around squirrels & other small furries will be important as she can be distracted and does like to chase! For this reason, Libby would be best placed in a home without cats.

Libby’s favourite thing about living in her foster home is the large garden, which she regularly asks to be let out into! She enjoys sniffing and exploring but also a big snooze in the afternoon sun. As much as Libby likes to be by your side, she is also content chilling in her own space and has got used to being left for short periods of time. She can be vocal if she hears lots of noise outside but with some reassurance and a cuddle, she is learning that she is safe. Libby would like to be close by for bedtime, she contently sleeps the night away without any problems in her own bed – which is currently in her foster carers bedroom . She will often ask for a big snuggle first thing in the morning, her favourite way to start the day!

With a family who will dedicate their time to working with and understanding such a clever girl, we know they will have the pleasure of welcoming a big ball of bountiful fun and love into their lives.

Libby originally came from Romania but is now living in the UK – visits can be arranged for serious adopters. Please note, the UK adoption fee will apply.
