Barley and her siblings were found alone in Greece at around 1 month old and were taken to a foster home in Greece where they have been for the last two months. Now they are safe & healthy, they’re ready to embark on their freedom journey to their forever homes, which we can’t wait to find for them!

Barley is a shy and sensitive girl. She is the most nervous out of her siblings & she will certainly need understanding adopters who will give her lots of time to come out of her shell once she arrives in her new home. We will be looking for experienced adopters who can offer Barley plenty of guidance & lots of patience whilst she learns to build her confidence. Barley’s delicate personality is still developing each day, but given the right amount of training & special care, we think Barley will slowly learn that the world is not so scary after all.

Barley can be insecure & unsure when she is in new situations. She hasn’t had much socialisation outside of her foster home & often shows her anxiety by being vocal or hiding away when she sees someone new. Barley is also not keen on being touched or cuddled by people that she has not built a bond with. Over time, she has learned to trust her foster carer but it will be important that Barley’s adopters commit to regular training to help build her confidence around strangers & new experiences.

Barley is living in a foster home with other adult dogs & mixes fine with them, although she much prefers hanging out by herself & it is likely that she could initially be wary of strange & bigger dogs when she is out socialising. As Barley gets on well with other dogs & given her nervous nature, we are ideally looking for a home with another friendly, gentle, neutral resident dog that can help bring out Barley’s confidence.

Prospective adopters should bear in mind that Barley & her siblings like to be close to their foster mum at night time & they currently sleep all together on the bed.

Barley was generally ok with the cats in her foster home but she doesn’t have regular socialisation. For this reason, Barley may be able to live with a confident & friendly cat, but we will be considering homes with cats on a case by case basis.

Barley has had some collar training but has had minimal lead walking, so lots more puppy training will be needed when she is in her new home!

Due to the rural area Barley has been exposed to & her more nervous nature when meeting strangers, we will only be considering quiet & calm homes, preferably in a rural area. She has not been tested with children so we will be watching how her personality develops & will potentially consider homes with older, dog savvy children on a case by case basis.

Please note, Barley won’t be travelling until at least the end of May. As a result, it may take us longer to reply to applications, as we need to prioritise those arriving sooner – thank you for your patience, and rest assured we’ll be in touch to discuss your interest in Barley as soon as possible!
